['Lake Odessa Wave-Times,' Thurs., June 15, 1939] Will Gavit Finds a Fox Den on his Farm Monday While working on a farm across the road from Lawhead Lake, which is about six miles southwest of Lake Odessa, Will Gavit on Monday located a fox den with at least six three or four month-old fox pups in it. The spot was littered up with pheasant and chicken feathers, which likely accounts for the apparent scarcity of pheasants on his place and the recent loss of several of Wesley Booher's chickens, Mr. Booher being his nearest neighbor. Will succeeded in getting within gunshot of the adult fox, but he didn't have a gun along. However, he is making plans for getting her later on, but expects in the next few days to get a gang together to clean out the den and put the pups in a cage for the summer.
Mr. Gavit says that although he hasn't dug out a fox den in a good many years, he has dug out skunks and other like predators and doesn't think he will have much trouble in bagging this mess of varmints alive.
