Son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gabet; born in June, 1890, New Haven, Ind. Enlisted in Company D, 3rd Infantry, Indiana National Guard, February 4, 1916, Kendallville, Ind., for Mexican Border Service. Returned in February, 1917, and reenlisted in April. Sent to Camp Shelby, Miss.; assigned to Battery A, 137th Field Artillery. Died of influenza July 6, 1918, Camp Shelby. Buried with military honors, New Haven, Allen County, Ind. Ill but two weeks. New Haven, Ind. July 8 - Frank Gabet, a New Haven boy, died at Camp Shelby Saturday of spinal meningitis. He had been ill about two weeks and at one time was thought to be improving, but Saturday a telegram came telling of his death. Mr Gabet was home a short time ago to attend his mother's funeral, and was at that time in the best of health. Word has been received that he is being sent to his home in New Haven. The Brothers and sisters have the sympathy of the entire community. One Brother, George Gabet, will leave this month for the service. References
