He was born in England. The Will of Thomas Charles Gatliff of Uwchlan, Chester County, Pennsylvania is apparently dated 12 December 1742 and recorded 14 March 1743 in Will Book 1, 1714-1758, at page 216. His wife's name is given as Margaret in the Will, and that is the correct name of his second wife. Friends records referenced below supposedly refer to the parents of Elizabeth and Mary as being Charles and Mary. Alsip, Our Heritage, July 1993, p.28, says that he was married (1) to Mary and (2) to Margaret Evans, but that all four of his children were by Mary.
