CHAPMAN - Sylvia J. Hemingway, 48, died Sept. 7, 2004, at a Presque Isle hospital after a long illness. She was born Nov. 14, 1955, in Caribou, the daughter of Lloyd E. and Thelma J.(Watson) Wardwell, Sr. She was a graduate of Presque Isle High School. Mrs. Hemingway enjoyed being outside, wildflowers, reading, sewing and was a collector of mice figurines. In addition to her parents of Chapman, she is survived by her husband of 29 years, Albert L. Hemingway of Chapman; two daughters, Sylvia J. Dean and her husband, Alton, of Fort Fairfield, Crystal L. Laster and her husband, Bradley J., of Auburn; four brothers, Kenneth Wardwell of Fairbanks, Ala., David Wardwell, Sr. and his wife, Becky, of Ashland, Lloyd E. Wardwell, Jr. of Westfield and Darin Wardwell and his wife, Kim, of Fairbanks, Ala.; four sisters, Juanita Campagna and her husband, Phil, of Madawaska, Darlene Page of Caribou, Peggy Lagasse and her friend, Rick Harvey, of Mapleton, Bonnie Burnett and her husband, Robert, of Chapman; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Ronald Lagasse. Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at West Chapman Advent Christian Church with the Rev. Kenneth Fox officiating. Pallbearers will be Robert Burnett, Rick Harvey, Jens Hunter, Randy Lagasse, Jason Lagasse and David Wardwell, Jr. Interment will be in South Side Cemetery, Mapleton.
