Steven Jackson is found in the 1840 Warren County Ohio census: Stephen between 30 & 40 2 males under 5 (John b 1836, Samuel b 1838) 3 males 5-10 (Darius b 1828, Jehu b 1930, unknown) 1 male 10-15 (Cassander b 1827) 1 female 5-10 (Helen b 1833) 1 female 15-20 (Jacintha b 1826) his wife (Mary Bennett of Harrison Co.)

The 1850 and 1860 Census records for this family needs interpreting. In 1850 Stephen has 6 children from 1 year to 14 years old; is said to have married Mary ______ within the past year. Mary was 31 yrs old and born in Maine. Warren County marriage records say that Stephen married Mary Bennett in Sept. 1849. Stephen's first wife was also named Mary Bennett according to Harrison County, (W)VA records. Stephen called his second wife 'Polly'.

In 1860 Census below the 2 oldest children are gone from the household; Stephen has 1 new child named Jackson and 5 children with the last name of Flesher His wife's name is Susanna, 35, born in Ohio. This turns out to be Susanna Scudder Flesher, widow of Elias Flesher, who married Stephen in March of 1855. This census has now been proved to be in error; three boys named Flesher were actually Jackson children. See administrator's bond below. Also, later census records names the boys Jackson.

On the 1850 Census Susannah's first husband's name was spelled Fletcher and on the 1860 Census his children's name was spelled Flesher.

The Administrator's Bond for Stephen's estate was signed by Susan Jackson, George Jackson and William Jackson, dated 21 Oct 1865. Warren CO..
