East Cemetery number 239.12 "From Watkinsville travel about 2.o miles on hwy 53 to intersection of Mars Hill Road and Highway 53. Continue on hwy 53 about 4.1 miles to Ray's Church Road. Turn left onto Ray's Church Road and travel 2 miles. Grave is on left about 100 yards from roadway surrounded by trees. Cemetery is now unmarked but is noted on plat of property." - ↑ In the year, 1801 a short time after the death of General Elijah Clarke, the valiant old Revolution hero, the General Assembly of Georgia passed an act creating the county of Clarke (originally part of Franklin) and the first town, incorporated under the name of Watkinsville, after Robert Walkins, of Augusta, was make the county seat. Watlkinsville is just a few miles East of Eastville.
- ↑ Records of Silas first surface in 1822, when he pays a poll tax of 31 ½ cents. This tax was mandatory for all Free White Males over 20 years of age.
- ↑ Silas returned on Lt # 164 - 16th District Dooley County property.
- ↑ 1822 records indicate that Lot # 74 - 6th District of Gwinnett County was drawn by Martin B. East in a Land Lottery and was returned (taxes) by Salias,
- ↑ In 1822, Silas was living in Captain Saul District located between McNut Creek and Barber Creek.
- ↑ 1823, Silas is recorded a living in Heron's District.
- ↑ On May 1, 1838, Silas purchased two pieces of property from Harriet's brother, Darius T. Houze. Thie first tract of land contained 125 acres, for which Silas paid $260.00. The property began at White Oak Corner then continuing to Hickory Corner (NW) and on to other end of Hickory Corner (SE4) continuing 189 links to Buckeye Corner completing the tract with a direct line to the beginning White Oak Corner. The second tract of land was purchased on the same date. This tract of land contained 100 acres, for which Silas paid $200.00. The property beging at Pine Corner running NE to Hickory Corner then SE to Post Oak Corner continuing SE to Red Oak Corner, then NW to beginning Pine Corner. For Both transactions, the attorney in fact mentions the party of James and Joseph Houze. They were the brothers of Harriet East.
