Sandy Ladson was the husband of Viola Bennett. Viola was the daughter of Ezekiel Bennett and Lula Davis Bennett, and the granddaughter of Adam Bennett, the enslaved overseer at Magnolia Plantation on the Ashley River in Charleston, South Carolina.

Sandy and Viola were married November 24, 1940.
