Facts and Events
Early Life
Samuel Wallace Depue was born September 17, 1889 in Beth Ayres, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States [1]. Not much is known about his early life, but it is known that he was able to read and write (1900 Census). From Census data, it seems that he used Wallace as his official name. However, he was commonly referred to as Walt [7].
Middle Life
Walt was a carpenter by trade throughout his life (see 1910, 1920, and 1930 Censuses).
Later Life
Towards the end of his life, he moved from the north, where he had been staying with one of his daugthers, to the south to live with his daughter Marian. He lived with Marian and her husband, Henry Jablonski, in Limestone, TN while Henry was the president of Washington College Academy.
In 1980, Marian and Henry retired and moved to Johnson City, TN. Walt moved with them and lived in their home until he died September 12, 1984, just shy of his 95th birthday. He died in his own bed and it is suspected that he died of cancer [8].

Relevant Census Data
Remarks on Censuses.
- 1900 Census. This census clearly belongs to Samuel Wallace for the following reasons.
- The family names are consistent with family tradition, same birth date as with family tradition, his sister's name is the same as one of his daughter's names.
- 1910 Census. There is a discrepancy between the 1900 and 1910 censuses. One boy is recorded as Allen in 1900 and Albert in 1910. The correct name is Allen [7]. There are some strange marks in the last 3 columns which I cannot make sense of.
- 1920 Census. Several names are misspelled on this census.
