    Robert E. Steinmetz, 94, formerly of Gibsonburg and Woodville passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Parkcliffe Wright Harvey House. He was born on September 25, 1916 to Edward F. and Mary (Goetz) Steinmetz in Tiffin, OH. On April 29, 1944, he married Connie Cassidy at St. Wendelin Church, Fostoria. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2000. Robert was a Army Veteran and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Gibsonburg. He enjoyed spending the winters in Florida, Hawaii and Arizona. Robert retired from Ohio Lime in 1981. He loved playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Robert always said there are no strangers in this world because once you talk to them, they are friends. His greatest joy was making people laugh.

    Surviving are children, Dale (Linda) Steinmetz of Yuma, AZ, Carolyn (Samuel) Knepper of Hawaii, and John (Suzette) Steinmetz of Woodville; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great- grandchild; and sister Bea Miller of Tiffin. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Herman, Ralph, Art, Irvin and Gene; sisters, Ruth, Mildred and Helen.

    Visitation will be on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home, Gibsonburg with a Catholic Wake service at 8:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, May 16, 2011 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Gibsonburg beginning at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Ted Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.

    Memorials may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church or Heartland Hospice.
