Coldwell, Robert - applied for Pension in 1795 for disability for wounds at Siege of Ninety-Six in 1781; Pension Application Rejected for insufficient proof of service because evidence lost.

Will Transcript

In the name of God amen, I, Robert Caldwell, Sen. of Newberry District of South Carolina, Being weak in body but of sound mind and understanding prased by god for the same do make this my last will and testament in the maner and form foling. First my Will is that Expences of my Funeral and all my Just Debts be paid. Next My Will is that my sons James and Robert Caldwell that each of them receive Ten dollars of My Estate, also My Will is that my sons William and Dickson and Joseph and my daughters Mary Read and gennet Chalmers and Abigail Spence that each of them get One dollar out of My Estate besides what they have all ready Received, and My Will is that my son John Caldwell get a soral horse and Saddal which he has now in possession and a cow and calf, also My Will is that my Wife gennet Caldwell have a Negro gearl named Chama Which I leave to hir With all my household and kitchen furniture and Movable property for her use and to dispose of at her Deseration or as Need sesity may Require and I do Nominate Constitute and apoint My said Wife Gennet and Dickson Caldwell execu- trix and Executor of this My Last Will and testament hereby revok- ing and making all and every other will and wills by me maide at any time to fore and I do declare this to be my Last Will and test ament in witnefs where of I the Said Robert Caldwell Sen. have here onto Set my hand and Seal this Twenty Eight day of febury in the year of our lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty one.
Signed Sealed and published by the above Named Robert Caldwell Sen. as and for his Last Will and testament in the presents of us and at his request and in his presents have subscribed our Names as Witness as thereunto
