Facts and Events
In December 1863 Richard Morland, grandson of Richard Morland junior the clockmaker through his son John a shoemaker, had appeared at York Assizes for robbery. He and two other men were charged with ‘violently assaulting Christopher Taylor and stealing from his person three shillings and sixpence at the township of Masham’. The three men were found not guilty and discharged. Despite this finding it is clear the behaviour of some members of the Morland-Iddison clan placed them at odds with the law. This was to continue. |
