It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Phyllis J. Crumrine who went home to be with Jesus Sunday, January 7, 2024. She left peacefully surrounded by the love that she so effortlessly bestowed upon those fortunate to know her. Born on July 5, 1927 (just missed being a firecracker baby), Phyllis Myrtle Jones lived a life marked with grace, kindness and an unwavering devotion to our Lord and her family. She was a pillar of strength and source of unconditional love for all who were fortunate to be touched by her presence. Her legacy is one of compassion, resilience and boundless love.

Phyllis was a dedicated wife sharing 76 years of marriage with Jerry Crumrine who recently passed on October 15, 2023. In 76 years of marriage, they created a home of warmth, laughter and a sweet aroma of home cooked meals. Their enduring love story inspired many until their final days. It was a testament to the depth of their connection.

As a mother, Phyllis was unparalleled. Her nurturing spirit knew no bounds and her love was a guiding light for her children, Jeff, Sandy, Debbie and John. She instilled values of integrity, empathy and the importance of family bonds. Sundays were days of worship and a large hand prepared family lunch after church. Her legacy lives on through the lessons she imparted and the love she embedded in the hearts of her children.

Phyllis was also a cherished grandmother to Katie, Josh, Zach, Drew, Trent, Connor and Kaitlin. She brought joy and laughter to the next generation. Her eyes would light up with pride and joy as she witnessed their milestones and accomplishments. She cherished the time with each one of them celebrating and just being in their presence. She was also a great grandmother to Pace, Parker, Jackson, Quinn, Grady, Kinsey, Bennett and Emi.

A woman of many talents, Phyllis had a passion for serving the Lord and did so in many ways at First United Methodist Church. As a devoted Christian, she served mainly as a Stephen Minister counseling others. When she wasn’t counseling or attending services, she was in the nursery using her God given talent with the infants and toddlers. She also loved to cook. She was a master in the kitchen cooking full course meals and wonderful desserts. No one would ever turn down her cinnamon rolls. She had a magical way of making the ordinary extraordinary.

Huntsville will forever bear the imprint of Phyllis’s kindness and her memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may no longer be with us physically, her spirit will forever reside in the hearts of those touched by her love.

A celebration of Phyllis’s life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. There will be a private family burial at Maple Hill Cemetery.
