SPEARANCE, SANDY CREEK, DIES AT 60 Philip Edward Spearance, 60, of 5863 Route 11, died Friday morning at his home. He had been ill with cancer. There will be no funeral or calling hours. The body will be cremated. Arrangements are with Summerville Funeral Home. Surviving are his wife, Wanda; three daughters, Brenda Merrit, Lisa Watkins and Carol Curry, all of Tacoma, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Terri Parsons, Sandy Creek; three stepsons, Alva Parsons Jr., Williamstown, and Joseph and Richard Parsons, both of Sandy Creek; four sisters, Eleanor Lawrence, LaFargeville, Genevieve Killenbeck, Pierrepont Manor, Dorothy Hirst, Exeter, N.H., and Mabel Ryan, Adams Center; four brothers, John, Sandy Creek, Earl, New Jersey, Donald, Altmar, and Harvey, Nebraska; eight grandchildren... A brother, Larry, and a sister, Cora Brown, died before him. Born Feb. 6, 1936, in the town of Rodman, son of William and Mabel Sackett Spearance, he was educated in Adams and had lived in the Sandy Creek-Lacona area since 1958. He married Wanda Parsons April 25, 1981, in Sandy Creek Methodist Church. A previous marriage ended in divorce. Mr. Spearance was a truck driver for Global Leasing, Clinton's Ditch, Cicero, retiring in 1993 because of ill health. He was a member of the North American Hunting Association and a former member of the Lacona Fire Department. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. References
