Graduated from Wilbraham Academy in 1924. Attended University of Connecticut for one semester but dropped out in 1925 to start family farm in Woodstock Conn., when father Fred was blinded in a meat packing plant explosion. Farmed in West Woodstock until 1960 when he sold the home place and moved to Vermont to become a horse farm manager. Resided in South Woodstock, Vermont until his retirement in 1971. Was the founder of Bungay Volunteer Fire Department in West Woodstock, Conn.
