WILD ROSE SENIOR WINS DAR AWARD WILD ROSE - Patricia Zeller, Wild Rose High School senior, has been selected by her fellow classmates and the faculty to receive the local DAR award. The selection is made on the basis of patriotism, service, leadership and dependability. She now enters into competition with other winners throughout the state. The winner is to receive a $100 savings bond from the state organization of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Pat is president of the student council and her senior class, vice president of band, co-editor of the annual, FHA parliamentarian and a member of the newspaper staff. WILD ROSE GIRLS PLAY MAJOR ROLES AT FHA CONVENTION WILD ROSE - Six members and their advisor, Mrs. Nellie Miller, of the Wild Rose chapter of Future Homemakers of America attended the state FHA convention at Green Lake last week. . . Two other members of the Wild Rose chapter also attended part of the session. Jean Clayton participated in the dress revue and Patricia Zeller contributed to Thursday evening's closing session with her oration, "I Hear America Singing." which took her to the state forensic meet this year. Miss Zeller recently returned from a trip to Portland, Ore., where she visited relatives. A cousin, Charles Wilson, returned with her for a visit at the Zeller home. AREA STUDENTS TO GET DEGREES AT MARQUETTE Six students from Stevens Point and surrounding area are included in the largest graduating class in the history of Marquette University, Milwaukee. The local degree candidates are . . . Patricia Zeller, Wild Rose, bachelor of science in nursing. Marquette's class of 1254 candidates for graduation will attend baccalaureate services in Bruce Hall of the Milwaukee Auditorium at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 3. The sermon will be given by the Most Rev. Egidio Vagnozzi, papal apostolic delegate to the United States. Archbishop Vagnozzi will be included among six prominent people who are to receive honorary degrees as doctors of laws at the Marquette commencement exercises in the Milwaukee Arena at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 4. NEWS FROM ALMOND ALMOND - Miss Patricia Zeller, R.N., teacher of nursing at Mt. Sinai Hospital at Milwaukee, was home over the weekend. Emil Hodnik officiated at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at Holy Guardian Angels Church in Almond, where Miss Patricia Zeller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Zeller, Wild Rose, repeated marriage promises with Ray David Hoffman, Silver Springs, Md., son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hoffman, Walworth, N.Y. Three maids were with the white gowned bride as she went to the altar decorated with bouquets of white gladioli and blue chrysanthemums. They were Miss Kay Zeller, sister of the bride, and Miss Judith Butterfield, both of Washington, D. C. and Mrs. John Kelly, Farmington, Minn. The bride was gowned in peau de soie cut on Empire lines with straight skirt, modified scoop neckline and long sleeves. The skirt was encrusted with re-embroidered Alencon Lace. Lace motifs, with seed pearls, were repeated on the train which fell from her shoulders. Her elbow-length veil was held in place by a pearl crown that featured drop pearls in each point. She carried two white orchids, lily of the valley, stephanotis and ivy. The maids were in evening blue gowns with Empire lines and carried white chrysanthemums, blue and pink stephanotis and ivy. Kathy Drotz, St. Louis, Mo., was flower girl. John E. Dempsey was best man while Richard Bash and Gerald Parthasarathy were groomsmen. All three are from Silver Springs, Md. Gerald Hoffman, brother of the bridegroom, was usher. Breakfast was served at the Sky Club, Plover, and a reception held at the home of the bride's parents. The newly married couple will honeymoon in New Orleans, Island of Trinidad, Tobago and the Port of Spain in the Caribbean. The bride is a graduate of Wild Rose High, St. Mary's School of Nursing, Rochester, Minn., Marquette University, Milwaukee, and Catholic University of American, Washington, D. C. , where she got her master's degree. The bridegroom received his doctorate in chemistry from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Penn. PATRICIA ZELLER HOFFMAN Patricia Zeller Hoffman, 51, Greensburg, Penn. and formerly of Almond, died Sunday at Forbs Regional Health Center in Monroeville, Penn. Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Buena Vista, with the Rev. John Swing officiating. Hardell-Holly Funeral Home in Almond is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hoffman was born March 25, 1937, daughter of Clara Zeller Lee of Almond and the late Carl Zeller. She was married to Ray D. Hoffman. Mrs. Hoffman was an environmentalist for many years and a member of the board of Coalition of Nuclear Power. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee and a master of arts degree from Catholic University in Washington, D. C. She also was a graduate of St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester, Minn. Other survivors include two sons, David and Jeffrey, Greensburg, Penn.; and a sister, Kay Zeller Harris, Louisville, Ky.
