Will dated Jan. 3, 1842, probated Dec. 3, 1855, recorded Dec. 5, 1855, pp. 391-392 . . . being old & infirm in body . . . I give & bequeathe to my Son Jesse S. Shotwell $10. I give & bequeathe to my Dau. Eleanor Koker (Coker) my Negro boy Lancaster. I give & bequeathe to my beloved wife Rebecca during her natural life - if it should please God she survive me - the plantation whereon I now reside, with all the farming tools horses hogs & cattle of all kinds, house hold & kitchen firnature together with the following Negroes to wit Aggy, Jude, Patience, Adaline, Mary, Jim & Anderson. "It is my will that John L. Williamson attend to see that my Wife wants for nothing that can be procured that will render her comfortable & happy her remaining days. At the death of my Wife it my Will that all the property in which she lives a life Estate contained in the fifth item of this will together with the increase thereof be the property of John L. Williamson & after her death I hereby give & bequeath the same to said John L. Williamson . . ."
