I have supposed the first date was the birth and the second the date of baptism"], d. Southborough 23 May 1738, m. (1) Marlborough 27 Oct 1668 Joannnah Larkin, m. (2) Marlborough 14 Apr 1714 Sarah Joslin. Will of "Moses Newton of Marlborough", dated 3 Apr 1724, allowed 11 Aug 1736, mentions "four Sons ... namely Moses Newton, Jonathan Newton, James Newton & Josiah Newton", "Son in Law John Bellows", "Grand Daughter Mercy Leonard" ["all the wearing apparrel which were her Grandmothers (my Late Deceased wife) .. my Daughter Mercy Leonard at her decease committed the care of her Daughter the aforesaid Mercy Leonard unto me and my wife"], "my Two Sons Jacob & Ebenezer" ["Sole Executors"], "my Grandchildren, the Children of my Sons David Newton & Edward Newton Decd. And the Children of my Daughters Hannah Bellows and Mercy Leonard Decd".

A similar records is found on p. 17:170, "Sudbury Records", which says it is "from a copy of the Middlesex County Records of births marriages and deaths in that town" (Sudbury), i.e., the "M.R." in Sudbury VRs. Neither of these two listings from NEHGR show anything recorded on 20 Oct 1645 or offer any clue to resolve the two dates.]
