- Melinda and Joseph married and had eight children.
Melinda is listed in genealogy notes as Belinda also, but her real name was Melinda (also spelled Malinda in some records). - I believe after the death of their mother, Mary Elizabeth Lichty Beal that Malinda and her brother, John Lichty Beal were raised by their oldest sister, Catherine Beal FAG#67163743 and her husband, Samuel Baldwin FAG#61037505. John would have been 12 and Malinda 11 when their mother died. Malinda's death record says her parents were Samuel Baldwin and Catherine Beal but that information was probably given incorrectly by her son Austin P. Berg as he never knew his grandparents, Daniel and Mary Elizabeth Lichty Beal. John's death record says his father was Daniel Beal and Katherine Lichty given incorrectly by his son, James Beal.
