Citation gives her birthplace as Huntsville, TX. I suspect JE Pettey Sr (grandad) gave Huntsville as her place of birth because that is where he met her and where she had lived for most of her childhood. When they met, she was working as a telephone operator. He told me he thought she was the prettiest thing he had ever seen.
