Mary A. Rohrbach, daughter of John Fredrick Rohrbach and Emma Anna Bloch, was born south of California, Moniteau County, Missouri, September 25, 1904, one of eleven children. Her mother was left a widow young in life, at age 47, to raise a large family. She was a dedicated Christian woman. Mary attended Mason School. In 1925, she was married to A. Reginald Crawford. To this union, eight children were born, three dying in infancy. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1975. They reside on the same farm that they purchased when they were married. She has been a long time member of the Friendship Baptist Church, in which she has served in many capacities, at the present time, being pianist.

Mary Anna Rohrbach Crawford (1904-1991)

Mary Anna Rohrbach was married to Arthur Reginald Crawford on September 26, 1925 at California, MO. They resided on their farm three and one half miles south of California the remainder of their lives. They were parents of eight children. Allen Boyd married Gloria Dean Francis. They retired to their farm south of California in 1981. Robert Winston married Pauline Kubli, and they live on a farm south of California also. Betty Myrl married Albert Smith Jr. They reside in Columbia, MO. Lanny Joe married Sharon Linhardt, and they reside in Jefferson City, MO. Four children preceded Reg and Mary in death. They were Maurice Dell, who died in 1934, shortly after his first birthday; Brooks Dale, who died at one week old in 1938; Ronald Dean, who died at four and one half months in 1942; and Annabelle, who married Bill Harris, and died at the age of 48 in 1983. Annabelle was living in Kansas City, MO at the time of her death. Reg was a farmer during the early part of their marriage, but went to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a signalman during the depression years, and continued to work for the railroad for some time. Mary devoted her entire life to being a wife and mother. She was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church all of her adult life. Reg met a tragic death in 1984 when the tractor he was driving overturned on him and crushed him to death. He was 80 years old at the time of the accident. Mary continued to live on the farm until her death on September 26, 1991, one day after her 87th birthday. Reg and Mary built a new house on their farm in 1950. A few years later, they built a cottage to accommodate Reg's aging parents on the site of the original house. They lived the remaining years of their lives in the cottage, with Reg and Mary caring for them. Lanny and Sharon Crawford now own the farm, and their oldest son Barry lives in the main house.
