A Death notice was published in the New York Times newspaper, dated 19 May 1949. It reads:

“MRS. JOHN W. SEAVER CLEVELAND, May 18—Mrs. Mary Patterson Seaver, a leader in civic movements, died last night at the age of 83. A founder of the Cleveland League of Women Voters, Mrs. Seaver was the widow of John W. Seaver, who at his death in 1911 was vice-president of the Wellman-Seaver Engineering Company. Surviving are a son and daughter.”
