Obituary

Mrs. Zacharia Priestly, 96, died Friday, April 24, 1942, at her home at 209 West Second Street. Although in failing health for several years, she was bedfast only two days. Death was caused by pneumonia. Margaret King was born Oct. 17, 1845, in West Virginia. Jan. 3, 1866, she was married to Zacharai Priestley near Charleston, W. Va. They came to Miami COunty about 70 years ago and to them eight children were born. Four of them preceded their mother in death. Two died in infancy, and the other two were Lillie Dellinger and Mary Priestley. Mrs. Priestley was a member of the Presbyterian church in Paola and lived a faithful Christian life. She is survived by three sons, Sam Priestley, of Mutual OK, Charles Priestley, or Wichita, and George Priestley of R.F.D 1, and a daughter, Mrs. Rosie Hawkins, Otawatomie. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Presbyterian church in Hillsdale. Rev. Frank E. Funk was in charge. Bodybearers were Charles Gruver, Charles Eaton, Harry Watson, Selden and Lester Deweese and Fred Jenkins. Burial was in Hillsdale cemetery.
