Margaret Mary Farrell was born on 1st February 1885 in Dublin, the daughter of Margaret Farrell, formerly Reid, and her husband Richard Farrell, a tailor. She was baptised a few days later at St Mary's Pro-Cathedral, when the family's home was givenas 136 Capel Street.

Margaret's mother died in 1894, when Margaret was only nine years old. Margaret and several of her sibling appear living together in the 1901 census, with eldest sister of Julia as the head of the family. Margaret at this time was described as an apprentice, although it does not indicate in what trade she was apprenticed.

Margaret has yet to be traced after the 1901 census.
