Magnus Flett’s origins have yet to be established. His first confirmed sighting is on 12th July 1777, when he married Catherine Eunson at Kirkwall in Orkney. They went on to have ten children at Kirkwall between 1778 and 1802.

Magnus has yet to be traced after 1802. At least two of his children’s death certificates describe him as having been a farmer.
