A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2005, in Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home for Lloyd J. Bender, who died March 31 at age 90.

Mr. Bender was born May 28, 1914, in Independence, Iowa. He served in the Army during World War II in Europe and the Pacific. He was an animal technician for the University of California, Riverside, and moved to Portland in 1978. In 1948, he married Elvira Anderson; she died in 2000.

Survivors include his daughters, Linda Knore, Dixie Anderson, Mary Cody and Rachel Hoven; son, Richard; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Remembrances to Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Portland.
