Death? 2 Dec 1876 Cooper Hollow, Polk, Oregon, United States

According to the family they crossed the plains to Oregon when J. R. was 14 - which would have been about 1852 but other family members said they came in 1846-7 which seems to be too early as Harbin married Ann in 1851 in Chariton Co. I am inclined to think the discrepancy comes from the fact that some of the Lindsey men (and perhaps the Coopers) HAD crosse earlier as they were scouts to Oregon in earlier times.

The wagon train leader was their friend and probably kinsman Capt. John Applegate.
