Teste: Wm. Patrick, John Porterfield, Chas. Patrick. Proved, 26th October, 1812. Givens and Robertson qualify. Patrick refuses. Letitia MAY be a daughter of James Kerr (b. c1685-1770). More information is necessary to prove the relationship. The Kerr family had very close ties with the Robertson and Rankin families, and they migrated from Lancaster/Chester Pennsylvania area to Augusta County, Virginia at about the same time. James Kerr died intestate (without will), and the only children mentioned in Augusta County, Virginia are his sons, John (named eldest son and co-administrator of estate), and William. He was known to have been the first Kerr settler in Augusta County, and built a large house on Middle River.

I thought hopefully at least one of you would have the answer to my dilemma. My grt.grt.grt grandfather, William Robertson, b. ca 1724 (Ireland) d. 1812 in Augusta Co. VA, married a gal named Lettice ?. I have been told her surname was Kerr or Carr. It could be either or neither. There are two land transfer deeds in Augusta Co., VA naming her as Letis. And, her tombstone reads Letice Robertson b. Jan. 07.1723 d. July 14.1773. She was buried in the churchyard of the Augusta Stone Presbyterian Church in Fort Defiance, Va. If any one can document her surname I would be very grateful. If you have questions re: the Robertsons, I'll be glad to give you what I have recorded. Note: This couple is not to be confused with the William Robertson, son of his brother, Matthew, bap. in Augusta 1748 and married 1st to Letitia Kerr, bap. in Augusta in 1745 and who later married Ann Crawford.
