    Death: Feb. 7, 1917

    At age 21 he was signed by Captain Boston to serve with the 5th Regiment of Virginia Cavalry. In March of 1863 he was admitted to the hospital in Gordonsville with a gunshot wound to the right thigh. He was sent to Richmond to recover. He was reimbursed $2000.00 by the Confederate Army for his fine horse that was killed in action at Summit Point, Frederick County, 31 August 1864. In March 1865 he was captured in King William and confined at Point Lookout.
