Fisherman Found Dead In Long Lake- A New Haven man’s body was pulled from the water of Big Long Lake, near South Milford in Southeastern LaGrange County, about 6:45 p.m. yesterday after neighbors at his summer cottage spotted his boat floating upside down. M. K. Shoup of Howe, LaGrange County coroner, and Sheriff Myron A. Welker said following an investigation that the man, Joseph Robert Gabet, 69, of 623 Main St., New Haven, apparently suffered a heart attack while attempting to start the motor of his boat, then toppled overboard. The coroner reported that death resulted from the heart attack, not drowning. Neighbors said Gabet had been fishing. Indications were that he had toppled from the boat approximately an hour and a half before his body was found. Mr. Gabet, a retired engineering construction worker, had been at his summer cottage the past two weeks. His wife was scheduled to join him there Sunday for the summer. Mr. Gabet was born Sept. 4, 1890, in New Haven and is survived by in addition to the widow by 10 children. The body, taken to the Carney Funeral Home in LaGrange, is to be transferred today to the Harper Funeral Home, New Haven, with funeral arrangement to be made today.
