She was born March 4, 1871 at California. She died December 10, 1947, having been a widow almost 30 years. Eleven children were born to this union. John was the oldest of eight children. He grew up on his parents farm, and was always a farmer but had various interests, one of which was photography. He delighted in taking pictures of his children. At the time of his marriage, he and wife moved to an unimproved farm southwest of town and later bought more acreage and improved all. John and Anna were members of the German Baptist Church, five miles north of California, Missouri, which no longer exists. In his forties, he was afflicted with kidney trouble and at age 48, had the flu, and died of a stroke. He and wife are buried in the cemetery adjacent to the site of the old German Baptist Church.
