Rhine, John (also known as John Ryan): Company K, Seventy-Fifth Indiana Volunteer Infantry. Mustered into service: August 6, 1862. Residence: Montpelier, Indiana Occupation: Farmer. Place of Birth: Jay County, Indiana. Age: 29. Appointed third sergeant August 11, 1862. Promoted to second sergeant January 1, 1863. Wounded slightly in head at Chickamauga, Georgia, September 20, 1863, and taken prisoner. Mustered out June 8, 1865.
