JOHN MANTHEI emigrated to the United States with his family in 1891, at the age of 21. He lived on a farm near his parents' farm in "Garden Valley" near Alma Center, Wisconsin. His wife MATILDA KRUEGER was the sister of IDA KRUEGER who married JOHN's brother CARL MANTHEI. The KRUEGER sisters had a brother, AUGUST KRUEGER, who lived in Tomahawk and Wausau, Wisconsin.
