In the Name of God Amen ~ I John Herbert of Elizabeth City County being sick and weak in body but of perfect Sense and memory thanks to Almighty God do appoint this to be my Last Will...

Imprs. I Lend to my Loving Wife Judith Herbert during her natural Life the following Slaves (to Wit) Davey, George, ___, __mpey, Samson, Primus, Sam, Lucy, Rachel ___ and Cornell, And further my Will and Desire is that the above Slaves after my said Wife's Decease be Equally devided amongst my Children (viz) John Herbert, Pascow Herbert, Thomas Herbert, Joshua Curle Herbert, Margreat Herbert, and Rosea Giley Herbert, to them and their Heirs for ever ~

Item - I give to my Son John Herbert the following Slaves - Hester, and Ned to him and his Heirs for ever ~

Item - I tive to my Son Pascow Herbert the following Slaves - Joe, and Mille, to him and his Heirs for ever,

Item - I give to my Son Thomas Herbert the following Slaves, Sary and young Davey to him and his Heirs for ever.

Item - I give to my Son Joshua Curle Herbert the following Slaves Suffaner, and Neeves, to him and his Heirs for ever.

Item - I give to my Daughter Margret Herbert the following Slaves, Nanny, Jeffrey and Teens? ^{& allso Slaves after my wifes' Decease} to her and heir Heirs for ever.

Item - I give to my Daughter Rosea Giles Herbert the following Slaves Rose, Dinah, Mingo and Bennaber, to her and her Heirs for ever, ~

Item - I lend to my Loving Wife Judith Herbert during her natural Life, all my Horses, Cattle, and Hoggs alowing her the Liberty of Selling what part she pleases, and what Remain at her decease to be Equally divided amongst my Children to them and their Heirs for ever ~

Item - I lend to my Loving Wife Judith Herbert during her natural life, all my Household Furniture in whatever kind it be, ~ And further my Will and Desire is that the above Furniture after my said Wife's Decease be Equally Devided amongst my Children. ~

Item. My will and desire is that my Plantation lying on the Southern Border ____ ___ ___, Timbers I Lately got to Build evefill be sold at Publick Sale to Difeth? to to my Debts. And if their should be any money over paying my Debts, my Device is that my wife put it out on Fortereft?, which said Sum of Money.

I give to my Equally devided amongst my Children as they come at age, or Marry. ~

Item, And lastly I appoint my Loving wife Judith Herbert Executrix of this my Last will In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this first Day of March 1761.
