John Day was baptised on 17th March 1808 at Offley in Hertfordshire, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Day.
On Christmas Day 1832, aged 24, he married Susannah Moles. She was from the village of Willian, a few miles east of Offley, but they married and settled in Offley. They appear to have had at least eight children between their marriage and 1854.
The 1841, 1851 and 1861 censuses each find John and Susannah living in Offley with their children. John worked as an agricultural labourer, whilst Susannah was a straw plaiter.
John died at the age of 60. He was buried at Offley on 4th January 1869. Susannah survived him by over twenty years.
