Facts and Events
Name John Bentman
Gender Male
Christening[1] 15 Nov 1761 Hexton, Hertfordshire, England

John Bentman was baptised on 15th November 1761 at Hexton in Hertfordshire, son of Mary Bentman, formerly Pakes, and her husband William Bentman, a labourer.

John has yet to be traced after his baptism. There seem to have been at least two people called John Bent or Bentman of about this age in this area: one who appears in the nearby market town of Hitchin in the 1841 census, and another who moved to another nearby town, Luton (where this John's half-brother James had settled) and died in 1824. Either or neither of this may be the John baptised at Hexton in 1761.
