[extraction] Mrs. Jennie Burnside was accused of assaulting an agent of Tulsa county Humane society. Marie Burnside, 16 year old daughter of defendent who had not lived with her mother since September 1918, had been ordered by the county court to return to her mother by petition of Mrs. Burnside. The girl refused and the Humane Society agent attempted to exert some manner of control over the girl should she remain away from her mother. Mrs. Burnside, alleging the agent's attempt to influence the girl, struck the agent. The daughter has been earning her own living since September 1918 and has repeatedly refused to return to her mother's home. The agent was only doing her duty. Mrs. Burnside was fined $5 and costs. She has appealed.
