Weir, James - entered service in Washington County, Virginia, where resided in Virginia Regiment; served at Battle of Kings Mountain; died 3/11/1820; married 2/19/1783 Margaret, Augusta County, Virginia, she was born 12/22/1763; widow applied for pension 1845 in Blount County, Tennessee & Pension Application rejected, insufficient proof of 6 months service; widow made affidavit her house burned down by Indians in 1788 & everything lost including soldier's discharge certificate; resided there 1851; children's births (record blurred & partially illegible): Anny 1/22/1784, Hugh 9/13/178-, John S. 8/23/178-, William 4/24/90, Margaret 8/13/179-, Betsy 10/7/95, James Preston 8/29/97, Patsy 12/3/99 & Lusina Porter 1/21/18--, daughter Anna married 9/6/1803; son Hugh married 12/13/1810 to Peggy.     JAMES WEIR
    James Weir's widow, Margaret Weir applied for revolutionary pension while living in Blount County, March 7, 1845. She was born Dec. 22, 1763. James Weir enlisted in the Army of the Revolution in Washington County, Va., and was in the Battle of King's Mountain under Capt. Edmondson and in the battle of Guilford Court House. She married James Weir in Augusta Co., Va., Feb. 19, 1783. James Weir died March 11, 1820. The original Bible pages are with the application giving the children's names as follows: Anny, born 1784, also spelled Anna, married September 6, 1803; Hugh born 1786 married Peggy ____ Dec. 18, 1810; John S., born 1787; William, born 1790; Betsy, born 1795; James Preston, born 1797; Patsey born 1799; and Lusina Porter Weir, born Jan. 21, 18__ (paper torn).

    Note: Margaret Weir, widow of James Weir, was the daughter of John Sharp. She died in September, 1848. The daughter, Anna Weir, married James Berry.
