Obituary, La Plata Home Press, La Plata, Missouri, April 4, 1901:

JAMES C. MALLOY

James C. Malloy, aged eighty-seven years and seven months, died at the residence of Richard Cupp in La Plata Sunday morning, March 31, 1901. Deceased had been a sufferer for years and his death was not unexpected. The funeral sermon was preached Monday morning at the Baptist Church by Rev. Walter Cash of Marceline and the remains were interred in the La Plata Cemetery. Mr. Malloy was a Mason and that order conducted the usual services at the grave. Deceased was a good man and had a host of friends.
