- Page 237.--Patent to John and James McCoy, 5th September, 1762, 320 acres on Mossey Creek. (Note: Mossey Creek is a tributary of the South Branch of the Shenandoah River).

John McCoy and James McCoy to Joseph Malcom, £30, 160 acres on Mossey Creek, the lower end of the place this said John and James McCoy lives on; David Ralstone's land, patented to John and James, 25th September, 1762. - Will Transcript, Botetourt County, VA:
- In the name of God Amen:
- I, James McCoy of Greenbrier in the County of Botetourt, a Colony of Virginia, being weak and sickly of body but of sound memory and understanding. Thanks be given to the Almighty Giver, and calling to mind that it appointed, for all men, once to die. I do therefore of what worldly substance it hath pleased God to bless me with, will and ordain that it be disposed of in the manner following, and I do hereby revoke and disannul any will or testament by me heretofore made.
- Imprimus, I bequesth unto my son, John and to my daughters, Jane, Sarah, Elizabeth and Mary, the sum of five Shillings each.
- Item: I bequeath unto my son, William, a tract of land lying in Stuarts Draught, to him and his heirs forever.
- Item: I bequeath unto my two sons, James and David, the Plantation wherein I live in Greenbrier. And will that it be divided between by a line drawn according to the course I have already maked, to them and their heirs forever.
- Lastly: My moveable estate, I bequeath unto my wife, Jane, togehter with the rest of my Plantation in the Cowpasture during her lifetime.
