The Log Cabin, 22 Dec 1899: Death "on Tuesday" [19 Dec] of Dr. James P. Madison from results of a paralytic stroke suffered several months ago, age 78 years 10 months, born in this county. Survived by his wife, "formerly Mrs. McShane", and one daughter, Mary; also three children by his first wife -- Mrs. Maud Throckmorton, John Madison of Kansas City. and W. N. Madison of Chicago.
