    James Franklin Grinstaff
James Franklin Grinstaff was born February 28, 1861 at St. John Missouri, and departed this life June 3, 1940 Plains, Kansas at the age of seventy-nine years, three months and three days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Ida Reece, January 27, 1884 at St. John, Missouri, and to this union were born six children: Milford F., Leah, and Alma; three having died in infancy.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, January 29, 1916 and son Milford, February 14, 1939. He leaves to mourn his passing, Alma Lee, Kismet, Kansas; Leah Ard of Los Angeles, California; Carrie Grinstaff [daughter-in-law], Plains, Kansas; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister.

Mr. Grinstaff joined the church at an early age, and has since been a member of the church in the community in which he lived. At the time of his death his membership was in the Christian church in Plains.

  11. Jim and Ida Grindstaff are said to have six children, only three of whom survived to adulthood. Gilbert, buried in the same cemetery as Jim and Ida, is probably one of the three who did not survive.
