    April 20, 1922.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the First Christian Reformed Church for the late Jacob J. Pilon, who passed away April 13, (1922), exactly twenty years to the day after his arrival in Lynden. A large gathering of friends was in attendance, the Rev. P. Jonker and the Rev. E. Joling officiating.
Mr. Pilon was born at Stedum, The Netherlands, on Dec. 23, 1843. He was married May 28, 1871, to Miss Hildah Werkman, who survives him. From this union, five children were born, all of whom are living. Mr. Pilon came to the United States in 1882, settling in Grand Rapids, Mich. In 1883, he moved to Charles Mix County, South Dakota, where he resided until 1902, when he left for Lynden.
He leaves to mourn his loss his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Abbie Hoeksema of Platte, South Dakota, Mrs. Alice Boerhave and Mrs. Grace Boerhave of Lynden, and two sons, John and Ralph Pilon of Lynden, 16 grandchildren, and two brothers, Mr. Reinder Pilon of Jenison, Michigan, and Rev. Tonke Pilon of Cheribon, Java, Dutch East Indies, who with his daughter is now enroute to pay his brother a visit.
Mr. Pilon was a respected citizen of this community and leaves a host of friends to mourn his loss. He had been a member of the Christian Reformed Church since early manhood. For nearly five years, he was an invalid, but was always a patient sufferer in his affliction.
