Meckisis, Irene Turner

MECKISIS, IRENE TURNER, 79, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2006 at Jewish Hospital. She was the best friend, best wife, best mother, best grandmother and best great-grandmother any one could ever have. She was a retired retail salesperson and member of the old Social Male Chorus. She is survived by her husband of over 61 years, John, Jr.; daughter, Debby Hurst (Glen); sons, John III and Joseph Kevin Meckisis; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; sisters, Mary Porter, Lucy Nelson, Shirley James and Christine Young; and brother, Fred Turner. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Evergreen Funeral Home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home.
