Fifty-five years ago, in 1884, a Cleveland and Hendrix Club was organizedin Jeffersonville with the following officers: President, Capt. E. H.Pinney; Vice-Presidents, George Wind, Dr. William Brand, Fred Scheidell,John Mages, A. VanBuren Borden; Secretaries, William C. Brand, John H.Glassel, Martin J. Weyrouch; Treasurer, Charles Scheidell; ExecutiveCommittee, Fred J. Buddenhagen, Herbert S. Wood, A.V. Borden. The clubbought a large colored banner with portraits of the Democratic candidatesfor president and vice-president and strung it over Main Street.
