Bio: Graduated from Harmon elementary school and Oakwood High School near Dayton, Ohio. For college she went to Georgetown Visitation, in Washington D.C. Had red hair. Was very good at sports and especially loved to play tennis. She was considered a strong and competitive swimmer. Very devoted to her husband and children. Loved to travel. Had been to Europe several times in her life. Always very social and loved giving parties. Very friendly and outgoing. A fun person to be around. Always dressed very well. After her marriage to Charles Brown in January of 1956 she moved to Chicago where she continued to live in a very large home in Kennelworth, just outside of the city of Chicago. Her home was just a few blocks from lake Michigan. She was a member of Lakeside Country Club. For many years she worked at the Chicago botanical gardens. It was a job she liked very much, because she loved flowers and pretty surroundings. She loved to cook and was considered to be a wonderful cook who could make very complicated dishes.
In 2009 Helen came down with Alzheimer's disease. Even though her mind began to go, she remained in good spirits. Her son David remained her loyal companion and took her on trips to Florida, Maine, and various other places. In July 2010 Helen was admitted to a hospital. Came home in mid July. In August she was readmitted to a Hospice hospital and then passed away at about 10:30 p.m. central standard time in Skokie, Ill just outside of Chicago on August 25th 2010 surrounded by her family. She was cremated just as her beloved husband had been and the two of them were buried at Calvary Cemetery in Evanston, Ill.
