Deseret News, 23 January 1999 LAYTON--Hazel G. Peterson, 83, passed away January 21, 1999 of a heart attack at Davis Hospital. An attempt to summarize Hazel's life and accomplishments in so short a space cannot properly give her the due respect she deserves. Needing to choose just a few of her greastest qualities, her intelligence and tremendous service to others stands out. She often said that one of her greatest responsibilities was to help the less fortunate. From around the world, there are many of us who can testify that she unwearingly spent her days fulfilling this mission. May we honor her by continuing her legacy of giving.Hazel was born on April 18, 1915 to Ira George Hite and Edith E. Piper in Greenwood, Pennsylvania. She married John Stonebraker Peterson on September 7, 1949. They were later sealed together in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Hazel in survived by her son, Michael J. Peterson; daughter, Ann Peterson; grandchildren, Cathy, Christopher and Nicholas; one great grandson; brother, Dan Hite.
