Obituary HARRY A. DELONG PRESQUE ISLE - Harry A. Delong, 86 died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born in Presque Isle, July 27, 1912, the son of Wllington and Nettie (McPhee) De long. Harry attended schools in Westfield and Presque Isle. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the IS Army from 1942 until 1947. As a member of Company C 744th Tank Battalion, he took part in the D-Day invasion at Normandy as well as other campains in Norther France and Germany. He was awarded the EAME Campaign medal with three Bronze Stars, American Campaign Medal, Work War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 2599, Presque Isle American Legion Post No. 99, Bingham and DAV. Harry worked as parts manager for C C DeLong, Archie Bishop and Sons and Etscovetz Car Dealership until his retirement in 1974. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Lola (McHatten) DeLong; two sons and their wives, Roger and Janice DeLong of Ashland, Barrie and Connie Jo DeLong of Skowhegan. He will be missed by his four grandchildren, Trudy DeLong of Madison, Wis., Lee DeLong of Lynnwood, Wash., Flint DeLong od Seabrook, N.H. and Carrie-Jo LeBlanc of East Madison, three great-grandchildren, Scott and Garrett DeLong and Kennedi LeBlanc. He is also survived by one brother, William DeLong of Fort Myers, Fla., one sister, Helen Goodrich of Los Angelos, Calif., a step-mother, Jackie DeLong; five half-brothers, one half-sister, and a special friend of many years, Frank Whittaker of Presque Isle. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home; 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be held Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Rank Melanson officiating. Spring interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
