"George Wardwell, a man about twenty years old, employed as a bookkeeper for the Prescott Organ Company, committed suicide at Concord, N.H. yesterday. No cause for the deed was assigned." -The New York Times 20 February 1873

"George B. Wardwell,19 years of age, a son of J.W. Wardwell, ticket agent of the Concord Railroad at Concord, commited suicide Wednesday. He was last seen alive that morning about eight o'clock. His body was found in the Gas Company's building. He had shot himself through the head, and had also probably taken poison, some of which was found beside him. No cause is known which would have caused him to commit the deed." -The Farmer's Cabinet 26 February 1873
