Obit for Gary Lee Wilson: Gary L. Wilson of Stuart, Iowa passed away June 1, 2000 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa of cancer at the age of 49 years, eight month and five days. Gary Lee Wilson was born at the family farm near Stuart on September 27, 1950 to Charlie G. and Ferne I. (Arrasmith) Wilson, the youngest of five children. Gary graduated from Stuart High School in 1968 and attended Area XI Community College in Des Moines. On April 19, 1969 he married Ellie M. Clark at the Congregational Church in Stuart. They became the proud parents of two sons, Brian and Eric. After the death of his father in 1975, the family moved from their home in Stuart back to the family farm. The family homestead was his pride and joy. Gary was employed by Remark Industries in Dexter as shop supervisor for many years. Gary enjoyed his work and the comradeship with all the employees. He was a proficient welder and used that skill to fashion many gifts for family and friends. Gary enjoyed very much, working around the farm and being with his family. He cherished relaxing in his back yard, looking out over the farm while playing ball with his dog, Brandi. His willingness to assist those who needed help was appreciated by many. He was a member of the Stuart-Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. He leaves to celebrate his life, his sons, Brian Wilson and Eric Wilson, both of Stuart, his companion and mother of his sons, Ellie Wilson of Stuart, a brother Dick Wilson of Hawthorne, California; three sisters, Joyce Hick and Linda McKibbin, both of Stuart and Ramona Vellinga of Ackley, Minnesota; numerous other relatives and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service was held June 4, 2000 at Ruppert Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart, Iowa with Reverend Don Carlson officiating. Eulogies were given by Dick Wilson, Jim Disney, Jim Miller, Mike Chafa and Mark Roth. Inurnment is scheduled for June 28, 2000 at South Oak Grove Cemetery.
