... Frederick William Young was born NOVEMBER 16, 1844. He came to Fort Stockton to assume the job as operator of the Post Store, and he was known as the Post Trader and he was also known as the Postmaster. He lived here until his death NOVEMBER 12, 1904, and to him were born 6 children. Four girls and two boys ... After Mr. Frederick William Young severed his connection with the government, he established a mercantile business here in 1876 and operated the same until his death.
During his stay here, he acquired lands adjoining Fort Stockton and was engaged in the raising of cattle. His "Brand" was the DIAMOND Y, and a creek some 8 miles north of Fort Stockton bears the name of "DIAMOND Y CREEK" where Mr. Young owned land and grazed his cattle.
